slcak i maybe

However you love the little ol' grumpy feckwad that is me for it.

I've had my hair cut today.
I'm going to go into town.
I'm currently in the process of getting some hot Battlestar action.
Sparecat has just been in and had some fuss. This has involved him dribbling over my mouse, keyboard and desk. The Important Document Pile was moved before he grunged those up.
I really need to buy some new trainers and work shoes.

Meh, back to Slackland. Oh but I have to hang out washing. I think today is an indoors drying day by the looks of it.

oh and

if you're tempted to go for the "upgrade your blog to the Blogger Beta" thing. Don't.

Isshit.

1. You can no longer use your Blogger user id, you have to use your email address
2. You have to allow google.com and its associated evil sites to set a fucking cookie on your machine (I have now got it so that it's deleted when I exit Firefox) whenever you want to log in.
3. You have to sell your soul to Google (the tagline "Don't be evil" should be enough of a clue to warn you away from the edge of the Google cliff. What they really mean is "Don't be evil, when you can be fucking evil". Your data is mine, bitch. Even the stuff on your harddrive).
4. Shite, this means I'll be needing to migrate this blog to somewhere other than blogger.

Damn you Google! Damn you straight to hell!

turns out

it's 13 years since my maternal Grandad died today.

plague pit

the boredofjam household has been poorly this weekend.

It all started yesterday, with me having to cope with a "slight sniffle". Still, ever adventurous in the face of adversity, up I got and trotted off to the vets with Sparecat who was, in turn, given two of his three vaccinations ("come back in three weeks and spend some more money," invited the vet with a glint in her bank account).

This has since made Sparecat feel a little bit under the weather. Lucky for him I made him a "Blue Peter" style cat bed this week out of a cardboard box and some No More Nails (the original one had Duck Tape on it, but the poor cat ended up stuck to it), so comfort is at hand.

So here we both are, me with a rather spectacular custard nose and Sparecat with the severe grumps.

The most marvelous thing has happened, and it is all thanks to the US Sci-fi channel and the wonderment of the internewt: I've been able to catch up with series 3 of Battlestar Galactica. Ho yes. It's quite, quite lovely.

this lot

wankers

nickin' stuff

Last weekend we (that'll be me and them, and her and him and the dog) went into the countryside that surrounds Ipswich and nicked stuff off Mother Nature. It's all for a dinner I'm cooking tonight, and I wanted some elderberries and some crab apples to make some jelly to go with the lamb I'll be cooking later. Or Nic might. Or Ian. Dunno. However this meant a rather handsome ramble in the wilds of Suffolk-shyre to find said fruits. Being brave, I climbed the crab apple tree and cast down unto the ungrateful waiting masses choice apples that they could pick up from the floor. Indeed, here is a picture of a grinning idiot up a grinning idiot tree:

[Pic: Someone forgot to take his Ritalin today]

So after using gravity to assist in my tree-exit, us fine band of fine folks turned our attention to the elderberries a bit further up the track. There were plenty to take - and we left many more behind. It's all very well knowing where to get the Good Free Stuff, but you should always ensure more people can enjoy the harvest.

Colin decided it would be a Grand Ide
a to take the circular route home. So we did. It was ace. If you think Ipswich is a dive (which, well, generally it is heading that way) check out the picture below. Taken on 7th October at about quarter-past three in the afternoon, I think you'll find it the very epitome of loveliness.

[Pic: One day lad, all this will be yours...]

So finally we made our way back to Colin's house where he treated us all to home-made cakes and mugs of tea from the World's Largest Teapot(tm).

Everyone agreed it was a fine afternoon out. And then I woke up and it was all a dream. The end.

(sings) when I buy...

from now on whenever I've bought something from eBay, I shall be leaving positive comments for the seller (should it have been a positive transaction) which I will lift from ancient Codemasters computer games.

Back in the 1980s, Codemasters were well known for having the most hyped-up, daft-sounding, OTT soundbites on the front of their cassette taped games. All were from the owners of Codemasters themselves, Richard and David Darling, and all were along the lines of "YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME!!! IT'S THE BEST THING YOU'VE EVER PLAYED IN YOUR LIFE!!!!" (from "Professional Washing Machine Simulator"*).

So look out for the All-New boredofjam eBay comments, they'll be FANTASTIC! BRILLIANT! JUST SUPERB!!

*Ok, that game didn't ever get published. But dammit it should have been.
